Jung-Lee Type Foundry aims to sustain the creation and distribution of quality typefaces, and to practise under an ethos of healthy working conditions, while raising awareness of the importance of these conditions for all practitioners. Membership functions as a practical and generative tool for offering support to J-LTF in the creation of the display typefaces.
These typefaces are the result of intricate explorations of typographic research, observation, and experimentation, and share a distinctive formal nature in comparison to the retail typefaces. The library of J-LTF’s display typefaces illustrates the foundry’s unique take on the type-design process, engaging with material realism, music, culture, language, and ideas of authorship. Membership is an exclusive channel through which to obtain the display typefaces while supporting the creation of new additions.

J-LTF wholeheartedly stands in solidarity with anybody who is marginalised by social and political injustice, racial discrimination, ableism, and discrimination due to gender, orientation, ethnicity, and age. To put this solidarity into action, we offer a Fundraising Membership.
The typeface made available, Impact Nieuw 2021 Emboldner, was specifically designed to raise a collective voice, and feels at home at protests and pickets. Combining a robust and hard-hitting sledgehammer aesthetic with delicate and flowing cursive lines, Impact Nieuw 2021 Emboldner reflects the need for power and care in creating social change.
All funds raised from subscriptions will go towards selected organisations or charities. We will select and announce a new organisation or charity at the beginning of every quarter in order to spread the fundraising impact as widely as possible. As a member, you’ll be informed at the end of each quarter how much money was raised.
Impact Nieuw 2021 Emboldner will be granted to Fundraising Members with a non-commercial Desktop/Print Licence for small-scale, non-profit, independent use. Though the boundaries of ‘personal use’ can sometimes become blurry, J-LTF trusts that our Fundraising Membership initiative will not be misused by corporate, commercial, for-profit ventures, and instead will function as solidarity-in-action, raising voices through the emotional value embedded in each letterform.
